knitting || the perfect crop top
The Perfect Crop Top/TPCT pattern has been on my wishlist for a long time. Originally, I have envisioned using one of my precious Rohrspatz & Wollmeise skeins as the main color, with something else striped in or perhaps a contrast yoke (since even though fingering weight Twin or Pure are generous 150g skeins, it's still not nearly enough for a sweater!). But I was rummaging through my stash and pulled two skeins of Herbstblatt Regina--and German indie dyer. I collected many of her skeins last year, and was glad I could combine two into a garment!
After doing a bit of swatching, I decided I didn't like how the light pink ("Old Rosé") and deep red ("Glüwhein") looked right next to each other. So I added a round of a dark grey (Into the Whirled "Quoth the Raven" leftover from another project) between the pink/red stripes, which helped set them off nicely. Visually, you don't really notice the grey at first, but it really helps the other stripes pop!
I really love how versatile this pattern is; there are a lot of options for adding your own touch! I opted for longer sleeves on this version (I want to knit one with short sleeves--possibly in a cotton or bamboo yarn for summer!), and also added extra length to the body. This works perfectly with high waist slacks and skirts--though I think if I were to knit one to wear with modern style jeans, I'd add a bit more length.
