style monday | flirtatious summer + the folly of white shorts

wearing: top (Anthropologie), shorts (Forever 21), sandals (Target), bag (Jessica Simpson), bracelet (gift from friend), necklace (Target).
Summer keeps flirting with us. One day it's really warm and humid--so typical for Virginia summers--and the next it feels definitely like spring again with showers and temperate days. This year I've been wearing shorts far more often on those hot days. I found these early in the season, and perhaps white shorts are--considering I have a baby and my own klutz tendencies--not the wisest choice. But white goes with everything, and I've been having fun dressing these shorts up or down. As my friend Sarah reminds me: don't sweat it--that's what bleach is for!

Can we also discuss for a moment how deeply enamored I am with this top?! Stripes and floral together. Last one on the clearance rack at Anthropologie too! Score! I've been wearing it with everything from skirts to jeans... A definite staple in my wardrobe.

  1. Oh, I love that top! I need to go beyond using Anthropologie as sewing inspiration and get off to the clearance rack!

  4. Yes, white is a dangerous color to wear when you have a little one, and a tendency for spills . . . but it is the perfect color for summer. I love the bright pops of color from the flowers in the top. I would like to see how you pair that top with a skirt though - I can see it working with jeans, but just sure how it would look with a skirt (could be just me with my "safe" wardrobe choices).
