I love this | au revoir, may

Goodbye, May! What a crazy, busy month in so many ways. The biggest accomplishment was launching this new home and the wonderfully encouraging outpouring pf support! Thank you so much; being able to connect with so many other inspiring individuals across the world is what excites me about blogging and was a huge factor in returning. I've been hard at work prepping some posts for June, and can't wait to share some new projects and outfits!

I spent a lot of time visiting my family the first half of the month, which was wonderfully restful and timed perfectly. It also meant I feel like I "lost" that part of May, even though it was time well spent! But it seems whenever I go on a trip, I come home to a huge to-do list that accumulated while I was gone. I find I have a really hard time staying on top of that as summer gets closer and closer--so often I like to be a bit more spontaneous and less wed to my lists.

I thought it would be fun to start sharing favorites at the end of each month; both posts and personal favorites that haven't made it on to the blog:

LISTENING | I finally downloaded Ray Lamontagne's new album (it came out in March) Supernova. It's different from his previous work, but I'm digging the psychedelic tunes--perfect for summer! Lavender has been on repeat during my work/writing time.

READING | This month I finished a book I started last year by Richard Rubin. Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War was both intensely heartbreaking (WWI always depresses me; only because it was a terrible conflict and largely contributed to setting Europe up for WWII) and exciting to read about the last of the American soldiers from that war and their memories. Some of them had really interesting things to say about the war, their experiences and even their post-war stories. If you're a student of twentieth century history--especially first-person accounts--I can't recommend it enough!

WATCHING | My sister introduced me to Inspector Morse mysteries in April, and I've been working my way through the 4 series Netflix has. I admit it: I love listening to British accents and have a fascination with UK culture. On my bucket list is visiting the UK one of these days (and not just the usual spots--I'd love to go more off the beaten tourist path!). I'm pretty sure that is not going to happen any time soon, so I live out my daydream vicariously through BBC series!

FAVORITE POSTS | Here are a couple of what I consider my favorite blog posts from May!

  1. You'd like Endeavor then--it is the story of Morse as a young cop starting out. Watch the first one (2012) which is a stand alone movie, and then series one (2013) which has several episodes. They are filming series two right now, I think! I enjoyed it a lot. Shaun Evans is just a treat to watch. Plus, hello, fun 1960s costumes and sets!

  2. Also, try Midsomer Murders on Netflix which is absolutely great. There is also a show called Lewis that is about Inspector Morse's sidekick. Both are on Netflix.

    1. Thank you so, so much! I was just telling my mom this evening that I'm really glad to be back because it's fun to share ideas and inspiration with everyone again. :D And there might be more vintage sheet dresses in the near future; I seem to have hit the vintage sheet jackpot the past few months! ;)

  4. When you're down with Morse, you MUST watch Inspector Lewis! Love that! Also, I love the Morse prequel they aired called Endeavor...wish they'd made more episodes! Oh! And you would LOVE Foyle's War. My absolute favorite! So good!
