style monday | vintage skirts + shopping trips
wearing: top (Kohl's), necklace (Target), skirt (vintage, thrifted), belt (Forever 21), purse (Target), wedges (Anne Taylor, thrifted), cat eye sunglasses (Navy Exchange). |
Sometimes a girl just wants to dress up for a shopping trip!
In this case, I was going out with my mom (and Miss A. of course--she's pretty much my constant companion!) for an afternoon of window
shopping at Anthropologie. The
city I live in doesn't have an Anthro nearby, and I still love the
store to death. So when I go visit my parents, we go to one (or
sometimes two) of the nearby stores. My head is always full of ideas
after a visit--I always want to go thrifting and spend an
afternoon DIY'ing! Though I did find a couple of goodies that I can't wait to incorporate into my wardrobe and show in a future Style Monday post.
If you follow me on Instagram, I showed off this wonderful 1950s novelty border print skirt earlier in the year. Can you believe I discovered this gem at a thrift store? I actually found it while I was pregnant with Miss A., and it was only more recently I've been able to wear it. It makes me so happy though--I love the knights motif done mid century style!
I'm in love with the Laura Mercier lipgloss (Wildflower) a friend gifted me. |
This was originally posted on Instagram as
part of the #mamastylemonday I "host" each week. If you have some mama
style to show off from the previous week, we'd love for you to join!
Such a cute skirt! I love border prints.
ReplyDeleteIsn'lt is amazing?! Reminds me of Mary Blair illustrations for Disney in the 50s. :)
DeleteSimply fabulous! I'm in love with that skirt, and the whole outfit simply exudes summer flair! Oh, and Anthro is the best of the best for sure!

Thank you! :D I've been having so much fun coming up with some summery combinations that are also more "baby friendly". A challenge! lol. (Though not sure they're entirely Casey-friendly; I managed to spill coffee on this top shortly after I took the photos! *roll eyes*)
DeleteLove the outfit...and that hair :) I'm going to have to try that soon. So glad you're back :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! I LOVE having shorter hair! Long hair is fun, but it got really long before I cut it (got 12" taken off!) and this is so easy to style in the Virginia summer humidity. ;) I'm a wash-n-go girl, so that's always a plus! ;)
DeleteSo glad you are back. Looking forward to reading about this next chapter in your life
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteGlad you will be back blogging again, I have followed along on instagram. I certainly know first hand that being a mommy is a very busy job.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Joen! :) Yep--all the reading I did before I had Miss A. did not prepare me at all for how busy I'd become after she was born! Plus she's a very active little person at this point, and keeps me on my toes even at home! ;)
DeleteI'm so excited that you have started blogging again! I first stumbled upon ElegantMusings back in 2009 and have been a faithful reader ever since. I'm a Mommy to a 2 1/2 year old and totally know how much a baby can change things! I'm so amazed at how much work you've already gotten done on your new blog! I can barely write a text message with my little guy around! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnyway, looking forward to all that is to come. :-) God bless! Sarah
Thank you so much, Sarah! :) Yeah--technology seems to be the hardest to juggle with little fingers... haha! There have been a lot of late nights getting this ready to rock-n-roll after her bedtime. During the day if my laptop or phone are out and I'm working, she always wants to "help"! hehe!
DeleteLove the new look and welcome back! Adorable skirt too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Debra!
DeleteSo happy you did not leave the web world! We all missed you so much when you did not post on your other blog, and now we have fresh inspiration coming from one of our favorite sources again! Kudos to you Casey!

Thank you ever so much, Jessica!!! :D So excited to be back finally!!!
Deletenice to see you back! i love the fresh new look here.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lisa! :)
DeleteHooray for you! I've truly enjoyed your wonderful instagrams this past year during your blogging hiatus. All the best to you in this new endeavor!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! :)
DeleteSuper cute haircut! Glad to have you back!
ReplyDeleteThank you ever so much! :D I admit: I'm totally in love with the shorter hair--so much easier! lol.
DeleteApprove! One of the reasons I missed your blog so much was because I love your style, it is really unique. I love how you use vintage - but you make it modern. It's something that I don't see on the strictly vintage blogs or the modern fashion blogs. I am very happy that outfit posts/style posts will be part of Casey Maura :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome outfit. Just found out about your transfer to this blog--looks great! And I love the name--Casey Maura sounds pretty and it's memorable. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the pic of you and Miss A off to the side in that sun dress is SO cute!
Love that skirt!!! It immediately reminded me of Small World/Mary Blair
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! So excited to see your back to blogging. You were the first blogger I started following and are still my favorite.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new blog. I'm excited for you!
Btw, I love the changes in your style as well. Your new hair is gorgeous, too.
DeleteSo glad you're back! I've missed your blog posts, but have enjoyed the Instagram updates. I'm excited to see how this new endeavor turns out!
ReplyDeleteAdore!!! You've hit the perfect balance of old and new here and look immensely chic in the process.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs & unendingly happy congrats on your awesome return to blogging,
♥ Jessica
Stupid question! What do you do with thrifted shoes? I mean clothes you can wash, but what to do with shoes?%)
